Pakistani Test cricketer dies after playing domestic cricket in Bangladesh.

He first came to Bangladesh in 1996 to play for Pakistan in the Independence Cup. After that, he also played in Dhaka Premier Cricket League. The name of Pakistani left-arm spinner Mohammad Hossain may be familiar to Bangladesh cricket fans. That Mohammad Hossain died today at the age of only 45 years. He had been suffering from kidney and liver complications for some time.

Mohammad Hossain’s international career is not very long. He has played only 2 Tests and 14 ODIs for Pakistan. He has taken 454 wickets in 131 matches in first-class cricket, 6 wickets for 53 runs – the best of his career.

He made his Test debut in 1996 against Zimbabwe in Faisalabad. Since then he has had the opportunity to play only one more Test, Australia’s tour of Pakistan in 1997 in Rawalpindi. He made his ODI debut on Indian soil in 1998 against New Zealand in Mohali. The tournament was organized on the occasion of the golden jubilee of India’s independence. That same year, he played his last ODI in Centurion against South Africa.

Mohammad Hossain’s name is involved in a controversial incident even though he could not do much for the country. Inzamam-ul-Haq entered the gallery during the 1996 Sahara Cup match against India in Toronto, Canada, and beat a spectator with a bat. Hossain, the twelfth player of Pakistan in that match, gave the bat to beat Inzamam that day.

He has played domestic cricket for Pakistan for Lahore, the National Bank of Pakistan, Sui Gas Corporation, and United Bank Limited.
