Today’s Trending News:-

When the students were vaccinated, it is not clear yet.

Although 1,03,152 students were listed, MIS did not receive instructions from the health ministry.

I have not decided yet when and how someone will vaccinate the students of government universities on a priority basis. Although the universities have given a list of 1 lakh 3 thousand 152 residential students, the Department of Health’s Management Information System (MIS) has received no instructions from the Ministry of Health till Wednesday. The opening of the university is also being delayed because of delays in vaccination.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has planned a general guideline to make a recovery plan to compensate the university students for the damage caused by the corona. It has given six suggestions, including reducing the time of the academic year and canceling various types of leave. Considering this, the universities will implement the rescue plan with the approval of the Academic Council.

In the Corona situation, the country’s educational institutions have been on holiday since March 16 last year. According to the government’s latest announcement, the educational institution has announced a holiday till June 30, but there is no possibility of opening it before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. In the university’s case, we decided we would start classes in the classroom after vaccinating the students, teachers, and staff in the residential hall against the coronavirus.

According to UGC sources, Rajshahi University has given the most list. A list of 25 thousand 254 students of this university has been given. Besides, 19,130 students of Dhaka University, 10,001 students of Chittagong University, 6,630 students of Jahangirnagar University, 1,096 students of the Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET), 4,500 students of Bangladesh Agricultural University, 10,069 students of Islamic University and Khulna University. There are 1,553 students, 1,090 students of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, 1,745 students of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, 2,214 students of the Patuakhali University of Science and Technology, and 3,753 students of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology. The rest are from other universities.

Besides, a list of 4,139 teachers under the age of 40 and 6,038 officers and employees has also been given. At present, there are 220 residential halls among the public universities of the country. There are about 1 lakh 30 thousand residential students in these. The total number of teachers in the public university is 15,524.

Synoform vaccination has been started for 5 lakh people since June 19. The priority list for this vaccination includes students in the dormitory halls of government universities, among others. But Mizanur Rahman, director of the health department’s MIS, told Prothom Alo last night that they had not yet received instructions from the ministry to vaccinate the students. The work will start after receiving the instructions.

Talking to an official of the Ministry of Health, the delay in vaccinating university students is mainly because of the lack of adequate vaccinations.

Earlier in February, Education Minister Dipu Moni had announced that classes would start from May 24 in the university classrooms. It will vaccinate students before the hall opens. But on the one hand, the situation in Corona has deteriorated, we could not give it because of the crisis created by getting vaccinated.

According to UGC sources, their goal is to bring all public and private students under the corona vaccine. However, since the students spend more time together in the dormitory halls, they want to bring those students under vaccination first. The reason, they say, is that the risk of the corona is we opened higher if residential halls without vaccinations.

UGC member Professor Dil Afroza Begum told Prothom Alo on Wednesday, “we cannot open The university without vaccinating the students.” For this, it is our priority to vaccinate the students as soon as possible. ‘

Damage pet rescue plan

The UGC on Tuesday sent a letter to the vice-chancellors and registrars of all public universities asking for guidelines for a rescue plan, including reducing the time of the academic year and canceling various types of leave to compensate for losing university students because of the corona. Some say that the duration of the conventional curriculum of the university should be significantly reduced. Various leave may be reduced or avoided, completing the test in less time than usual. The time of each class (theoretical and practical) will remain the same as at present, i.e. the time of the lecture cannot be reduced. However, even if the number of lectures needs to be reduced, the entire curriculum needs to be completed. Things like class exams, mid-term exams, assignments, or term papers need to be reconsidered to reduce academic time. And with the final examination, the preparatory leave for the examination, the interval between the examinations of the two subjects, and the interval between years, semester, or term can be reduced.

A senior UGC official told Prothom Alo that the guideline would come into force after the reopening of the university.
