DU students will be able to buy smartphones with loans, application time has increased.
Educational institutions closed due to corona. Education activities are going on online. About 8,500 students of Dhaka University are getting an interest-free loan of Tk 8,000 to buy smartphones (mobiles) for online education. For this, the students have to apply by filling the prescribed form. The application period has been extended from 15 to 20 June.
Earlier, in November last year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had decided to provide interest-free loans of Tk 8,000 to 41,501 indigent students of 39 government and autonomous universities.
It was then informed that the students would be able to pay the real money in four installments or one time after the opening of the university or during the study. Dhaka University was the highest on that list. A total of 6,558 students applied for loans at the university.
A statement from Dhaka University said that in the light of UGC Policy-2020, to conduct online education activities at Dhaka University in the wake of the Corona epidemic, financially indigent students have to apply for loans to buy smartphones under interest-free loans. Requesting for delivery. The application deadline is June 20.
The conditions are
1. Indigent students studying at the undergraduate/postgraduate level in Dhaka University whose names are included in the ‘Student Soft Loan’ list can apply only
2. The maximum ceiling of the loan is 6 thousand rupees, which is interest-free. This money will be paid through the bank account of the concerned student.
3. Students need to open a bank account in their name in any of the branches of Sonali / Janata / Agrani Bank on an urgent basis and inform their respective departments/institutes.
4. The concerned student has to submit the smartphone purchase voucher to the member secretary of the soft loan approval committee through the department/institute.
5. The loan amount has to be repaid by the concerned student while studying in the university at one time or in 4 equal installments.
6. No transcript and temporary/original certificate will be issued in the name of the concerned student till full repayment of the loan. Students who are registered in the soft loan list of students by 15 June to download and fill in the Inter Software of Du Forms included in the website of Dhaka University (www.du.ac.bd) and send it to the Chairman / Director of their respective departments/institute undergraduate/postgraduate application.
