A long vacation, uncertainty about exams

SSC and HSC and equivalent examinations are also stuck.

In the current situation of Corona, the education administration cannot take any decision on these issues. What the alternative will be, is not being said in advance. As a result, anxiety is growing among students and parents. Last time also primary and ibtedayi education was completed and they did not hold JSC and JDC examinations. If the situation in Corona is not favorable, they may do again something like this.

However, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain told Prothom Alo on Sunday that the final examination is still late. So far we have taken no decision to cancel the final examination of primary education and there is no such thought.

Completion of primary and ibtedayi education, JSC, and JDC examinations are held in November of the year. There are about 5 million candidates in these four exams. The school’s annual exams are in December. And I held the SSC examination in February and HSC examination in April every year. But nothing has been happening since last year because of the corona infection. Under the Corona situation, the country’s educational institutions have been on holiday since March 16 last year. The government had planned more than once to open educational institutions. But could not be opened.

According to the latest announcement of the government, there is a holiday till June 30. But in the meantime, the government has extended the ongoing restrictions on human movement and overall activities till July 15. As a result, educational institutions are not opening before him. Eid-ul-Azha is likely to be on holiday from July 20 to 22 (depending on the time of the moon). Therefore, there is no possibility of opening an educational institution before Eid-ul-Azha. Again, the situation is deteriorating rapidly. As a result, no one in the education administration can say when the educational institution will open.

They are making plans keeping a few things in mind. They will decide next time according to that situation.

As a result, the prescribed syllabus of the students of the current academic year has not been advanced. Even these students have risen to the upper class without exams as they did not have classes last time due to corona. In this situation, if the holiday is longer, it will be raised in the upper class without examination, we have discussed it.

The education administration has not yet reached a decision on the alternative assessment of this year’s SSC and HSC and equivalent examinations. So far, the education boards are in favor of examinations. They are also preparing for this.

Asked what could be done about the exam in the current situation, SM Hafizur Rahman, a professor at the Institute of Education and Research, Dhaka University, told Prothom Alo, “I see little importance in the final examination of primary and Ibtedayi education.” Rather, this test is extra stress for students. The JSC-JDC exam may have some significance. But even if there is no harm. So in the existing situation, this class should not be tested. However, the assessment of SSC and HSC should not be done without examination in any way. We need to wait longer for this.
